Upon identifying the loss of traction, the system steps in to reduce power or apply the brakes as necessary, ensuring prevention of wheel-spin. In turn, this provides riders with increased stability and control over their bikes, especially during critical situations where maintaining a grip on the road is paramount. Motorcycles with cruise control aren’t limited to high-end models alone.
Electric Servo Universal Cruise Control Kit
Kawasaki has for a long time been the Japanese manufacturer to bring high-tech features to everyday motorcycles earlier than the others. This was true with ABS, Traction control, and even cornering ABS (the consumer-oriented 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 had cornering ABS). The Ducati Multistrada V4 is Ducati’s top-level adventure touring bike. It’s the latest in a long line of bikes that started with the 2003 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS, which had an air/oil-cooled L-twin engine. The Ducati Multistrada V4 was actually the first motorcycle on the market with adaptive cruise control, but the difference was minor (just bragging rights).

This means that there’s an MCCruise available for pretty much every bike on the market. Some people might also point out that the control switch assembly is too big and will ruin the look of their bike as well. The unit mated perfectly with my ride and the performance is fantastic — as long as you take time to follow the directions step-by-step. There’s also an LED on the far right that provides visual feedback on cruise control operation and status.
Motorcycles With Electronic Cruise Control
When the ATLAS is engaged, a friction pad on a stainless steel tab presses against the throttle housing wall and, using pressure and friction, stops the return spring from snapping back. When disengaged, your throttle will function exactly like it did from the factory. The ATLAS Throttle Lock is the most intuitive cruise control alternative ever built. When engaged, the ATLAS holds your throttle in place with friction so that you can relax your grip, shake out your hand, adjust your jacket, etc. Its 1,262 cc engine provides 158 bhp with an impressive torque, which gives this bike enough power to conquer any terrain, whether on or off-road.
What factors should I consider when choosing a motorcycle cruise control system?
But you should bear in mind that it’s a very new company with only a few models supported so far. You should just bear in mind that companies do come and go — life happens! — and so make sure you understand the product you’re installing and know how to reverse it in the future, if needed. But since it’s hard to recoup the value of add-ons to a motorcycle, this wouldn’t be an investment that I would make flippantly. If you don’t disengage the throttle lock, you can still roll the throttle forward and backward to make adjustments.

Come up to speed
The F 900 R is a really awesome street bike that’s totally packed with features and available for a really affordable price. It’s basically as well-featured as the S 1000 R, but with about 2/3 the power, and half the cylinders. I love that the RSV4 has cruise — but usually, smaller bikes don’t get all the same technology the big ones do. I’ve included this at the end — motorcycles that surprisingly don’t have cruise.
As technology continues to evolve, we’re seeing some incredible advances, such as the Adaptive Cruise Control System. This new tech promises to revolutionize the way we ride, offering unprecedented levels of control and convenience. So, whether you’re a seasoned rider or a relative newbie, there’s never been a better time to explore the benefits of motorcycle cruise control. For two decades, MCCruise has consistently been a trusted name in the motorcycle accessory industry. Our signature offering, the motorcycle cruise control, has made its mark, ensuring riders a seamless journey with precise control. As we’ve evolved over the years, we've held firm to our commitment to offer top-tier products that guarantee value for money.
Again, the way to do this is clearly explained in the installation instructions. There’s still plenty of room to use the buttons on the left handlebar. As I got out of town and onto roads where I could safely engage the system to try it out I was caught by surprise when a red indicator light appeared beside the ON button after pushing it. For whatever reason, the red color made me think something was wrong or not working because I didn’t remember reading anything about it in the instructions to indicate that was normal. My plan was just to ride a big lap around the outskirts of the city I live in, lasting about 25 minutes and allowing me to adequately test the MCCruise at a variety of speeds, and on differing terrain.
Rotates with the throttle for an ergonomic position at all times
But being an upright touring bike, that’s a less surprising bike on which to have cruise. The CFMOTO 700CL-X (especially the 700CL-X Sport, with clip-on handlebars and Brembo M50 brakes) is definitely one of the coolest and cheapest motorcycles that come stock with cruise control. Note that cruise isn’t standard in every market — it’s not standard in Australia, for example. You can retrofit it but it’s not exactly an “option” and the parts and labour cost over A$1,500 to get it installed, a dealer told me. The Tracer 9 GT+ is also unique because while it’s a relatively “premium” bike (already with active suspension and an IMU), it has a middleweight engine — an 890cc triple.
This is a valid concern if you’re really bothered with keeping one speed over vast distances and different terrain. You might be concerned with this if you’re riding a large cruiser or adventure tourer, like a Gold Wing (which has cruise, anyway). But because riding a motorcycle is often more intense, tiring, and high-risk an experience than driving a car, cruise control can be even more useful. Foremost, make sure the cruise control system you’ve got your eyes on is compatible with your motorcycle’s make and model.
One complaint about the cruise on the Africa Twin is that the controls are on the right-hand side. This means you have to set cruise with the same hand that’s adjusting the throttle. This can be more fiddly than setting the cruise with the left hand, like nearly every other motorcycle. But with a 150+ hp engine that likes to rev and genuine corner clearance, the XDiavel was never really a direct competitor to Harley-Davidson or various Japanese metric cruisers. It’s definitely in “muscle cruiser” territory — a comfortable sportbike, or a scary fast cruiser. Nobody would be surprised to find out big tourers like the K 1600 GTL or R 1250 RT have cruise.
However, it cannot increase or decrease the said speed since it does not come with any sensor. Motorcycles have had cruise control since 2021 (although official announcements about the feature have broken out as early as 2018). The system is currently offered in high-end production models, but there are plans to make it standard in mid-class motorcycles in the near future. Cruise control is best suited for long drives on large, straight roads such as an interstate highway with cars traveling at a relatively constant speed.

The Top Kit was designed for motorcycles with certain interferences. Most riders will be using the Bottom Kit, but some will need the Top Kit. The ATLAS Throttle Lock is made of hardened stainless steel and will last the life of your motorcycle. These high quality materials allow us to laser cut extremely thin parts while maintaining strength and resilience.
That’s going to save me a pile of money and let me keep a bike that I’ll now really enjoy a lot more on long rides. I wanted to make sure my bike was totally ready to go for riding season. My point in telling you this is that the kit wasn’t difficult to install, just a little time-consuming.
