Situated in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood, Children’s House Montessori School has been providing Montessori education to generations since 1973. Applying for financial assistance is open to all families and can be done at any stage in the enrollment process. We work with each family to help guide them through the enrollment process. We try our best to fit the enrollment date around your family's needs. If there is a space available at your local Children's House, you will be invited to fill out a registration form and pay the applicable fee.

Cultural Activities are a specific extension of the language curriculum where children begin to acquire a sense of historical fact, classification of physical geography and an appreciation of cultural differences.

Every morning starts with movement, games, or yoga to give the children an opportunity to stretch and move. Afternoons also include music, movement and games to help children stay active. These cycles of activity prevent children from spending long periods of time sat at a desk or on the floor, which isn't good for young growing bodies. Each classroom has age-appropriate activities and promotes self-guided learning. A Montessori classroom is a very calm, peaceful and orderly place where children know what to expect. The order and predictability enhance focus in learning as students build independence.
Guidepost Montessori offers a holistic education approach with 120+ schools, virtual options, and language immersion. Our curriculum fosters independence, creativity, and a love of learning. You will most likely see the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and your child's Lead Guide or Assistant Guide on a daily basis. The Head of School is responsible for leading the entire campus, with support from the Assistant Head of School. They ensure the delivery of an exceptional Montessori program and help build a strong community among staff, parents and children. At Guidepost Montessori, Children's House teachers are called Lead Guides and Assistant Guides (this helps highlight the fact that we believe the child is at the center of the learning process, not the adult).
Our two classrooms have large windows that look out onto our beautiful, natural playground. With plenty of open work space and small class sizes, there is lots of space for independent work as well as small group activities. The children work in separate classrooms during the morning and are together for playground time, and the afternoon activity period. By the time the child finishes the capstone kindergarten year, place value and operations have become so ingrained that she can perform all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with four-digit numbers.
